We decided that as of next year (2019), we would try to go a bit more chemical free as part of our new years resolution.
I’m actually quite proud of myself because I started early (a month before New Years) and did my research to give us the best chance at achieving the goal.

This week, I’ve been working on making my own cleaning products out of natural cleaners and essential oils. Having the house smell nice (and like chemicals) is a massive motivator for me to clean, so I knew I needed all my cleaners to smell really good.
I am very pleased with how they turned out and how nice they look under the sink! It actually motivated me to reorganize my sink storage too, which you can read about here, but without further adieu …here are the recipes I used:

All Purpose Cleaner
2 cups white vinegar
2 cups water
1 teaspoon natural dish soap
30 drops eucalyptus essential oil
20 drops lemongrass essential oil
Glass Cleaner
2/3 cup white vinegar
1 1/3 cups distilled water
5 drops of lavender essential oil

Please note that I have only been trying these recipes myself for quite a short time and am absolutely no expert on home made cleaning products. I’m at a trial and error stage so please proceed with caution.
Someone actually told me today that some essential oils can ruin a plastic bath (which I did not know), so I am still researching to make sure I have all the details.
Update (May 2020): I have removed all recipes I am no longer making and have kept the ones that have worked really well for me.
Love the bottles!
Where are they from?
packmyproduct.com 🙂

Hi i was wondering do you have a natural alternative for bleach???? I totally followed your guide with all the white towels in the linen closet but i have a bunch of kids and cant get all the brown stains off
I don’t unfortunately because I don’t use bleach often. I’ve found it has made things go yellow. Have you tried soaking in Napisan?
