Labels
I used to have really ugly labels that I hand made my self but then the wonderful Pretty.Little. Designs came along and now I have the cutest white vinyl labels which were so easy to do. I sent her a list of all my requirements, picked a font and she sent them back, cut out and ready to stick on! If you’re serious about not only organising your pantry but also making it look really pretty, these labels are a MUST! (Scroll down to see a list of all the things I keep in my containers)
I use storage containers because I absolute loathe packaging and try and avoid it as often as I can. Most dry goods have a really long shelf life and I regulate the product expiry by writing on the back of each container with a white board marker.
I actually picked which pantry containers we were going to use well before our builder even laid a foundation, so when it came time to designing the pantry, I literally build shelves which would specifically fit my containers. You can find all the designs, plans and measurements here.
Here’s a list of everything I keep in my OXO:
- Basmati Rice
- Arborio Rice
- Brown Rice
- Couscous
- Brown Sugar
- White Sugar
- Desiccated Coconut
- Shredded Coconut
- Co-co Powder
- Almond Meal
- Sea Salt
- Icing Sugar
- Corn Flour
- Bi-Carb Soda
- Caster Sugar
- Rolled Oats
- Bread Crumbs
- Plain Flour
- Self Raising Flour
- Protein
- Cereal
- Muesli
- Shake Powder
- Spaghetti
- Penne
- Spirals
- Fettucine
- Butterflies
- Cannelloni
- Rigatoni
- Almonds
- Soup Mix
- Muesli
- Pistachios
- Dried Fruits
If you’re wondering about what size containers you need to suit your storage needs, this handy info graphic I found on Pinterest.
Hi love your pantry. Can you please share your label specyou ordered from pretty designs. I love yours!
I’m not actually sure what the spec is, she made them for me 🙂 If you contact Deanna, she will be able to help you!
Thanks Iryna
Hello! Love your pantry ideas! Just wondering if you know if the Kmart containers seal well compared to Oxo?
Hi Jen, thank you so much 🙂
I am yet to try out the kmart containers for my self (I will be re doing mums pantry with them) but others have said they do the job just as well! If you try them out, I’d love your feedback as well x
Where do you store your canned foods
We don’t eat many canned foods but I have a shelf in the pantry and they’re just on shelf raisers 🙂 There’s a photo somewhere xx
Have you had any trouble with pantry ‘bugs’ in your plastic containers?
Nope, have had them for three years and never had an issue 🙂
Just wandering what size containers you used for which foods? I’m referring to your pin interest photo but was interest what size you used for things like coconut? Thank you
Hi Tara,
When I was arranging my stuff, I’d check the size of the packet I had and put them in an appropriate container.
What size are the containers which your flour is in? I bought the 4QT containers
Yep, those are the ones I use 🙂
Hi Iryna, I’m sure I saw on one of your posts how you coloured the glass jars from Kmart but I can’t find it now. Can you link me to it please, or remind me how you did it? I’m talking about the pastel pink ones. Thanks lovely
Hello 🙂 I never made a post because I do absolutely nothing special with them haha. Literally just point and spray paint on glass 🙂
Hi, your pantry is so gorgeous and inspiring 🙂 Just wondering where the little shopping cart is from lol?
Hi Erin, thank you 🙂 I’m not 100% sure as it was a gimmick gift from work haha but I think they said they got it in K-mart 🙂
Hi Iryna,
Have you had any problems with the OXO containers not being airtight?
No, I haven’t but I have heard others say they have, so perhaps not uncommon, Mine are about three years old but no issues yet.
Thanks for the reply 🙂 Your blog has helped me so much!
I think I’m going to have to invest in them haha.
Are the muesli/nuts in the 800 or 300ml containers?
Wow! Your pantry is AMAZING! ❤️ I was wondering what size you store the pasta? Looks like the medium rectangle 2.5qt but can’t make it out from the photo. Thanks ?
Sorry lovely, not sure, they don’t have sizes on them and I bought mine ages ago x
Are you able to share what whiteboard markers you use and colour too to note the expiry dates and how to remove them afterwards?
Whatever is on sale at officeworks or K-Mart. I just use a tissue 🙂 x
