As I’m sure you have already seen, I have been working on our walk-in robe. It houses all of our clothes but also my ‘fancy’ shoes, accessories and make up. I have some jewellery stored in the shoe closet among my clutches, watches and perfumes. I couldn’t fit too much into the shoe closet without it feeling extremely cluttered, so I had to find a spot for the remainder of my necklaces.
I have been trying to utilise the narrow walk way we have to the best of my ability. I turned these K-Mart photo frames into jewellery organisers and love them because they’re narrow and look like little features on the wall. The frame opens and closes with a pretty little latch, making it the perfect way to store my necklaces, bracelets and excess earrings. It hangs on the opposite end to my make up station which is still in progress, so it works really well functionally. The frame comes with the latch and door, so you don’t have to add any additions to achieve the look and effect.
DIY Jewellery Organisers
1. Take out everything from the frame to reveal the permanent backing and cover that in contact. The back of the frame is a piece of mdf, so you can add screws or hooks easily.
2. Using masking tape, mark out a guide line so you can screw in your hooks nice and straight
3. Add hooks in desired spots – I used a screw and a drill to make a dent in the board and then screwed in the hooks by hand.
4. Hot glue acrylic cover to the frame so you can’t see the frame security clips. This step will make more sense if you have the frame.
5. Hang your jewellery and you’re all done!
More detail please, I donโt understand how you made the โdoorโ and what you used. X
It’s this frame, comes with the door.

Love this idea! Can you explain step 4?
If you have this particular frame, you’ll know what I mean. When you take out the outline insert, the little black clips are really obvious so I just pulled all of mine back and hot glued the plsatic to the frame, rather than having it secured with the black clips ๐
Hope that makes sense!
theres not much detail in this blog. im not understanding. may need to elaborate more. thanks. looks beautiful
If you have the frame, it will make more sense to you ๐
What part do you need me to elaborate on? Im not sure how much more detail I can provide.
Thanks for the idea, with the hooks when you screwed them in do they come out at the back? Trying to figure this part out my hooks seem too long!
Thanks ๐
No they don’t ๐ I just screw them in until they hit the back xo
Where do you get the clips from ??
Which clips sorry?
Did you have trouble getting the glue off the backing board before you put the contact on?
The first one I tried, the glue made it bubble and crease. The only way I could get the glue off way with alcohol, which then left the contact not sticking well.
Any ideas?
Nope, didn’t have any trouble, mine just sort of scraped off
I have just made these, love the idea! but when I open the door, they lean sideways. did you attach them with more than just a picture hook to the wall?
Yes definitely – I used four command strips on each corner.
Love this idea!! I have my photo frame Iโm just confused what the purpose of the contact is for?
Purely to cover the back because once you remove the contents of the frame, it’s cardboard with glue all over it.
Where did you buy the contact from?
Kmart xx
Thanks for the excellent manual
